Privacy Policy for Browser4
This policy explains what information the Browser4 website (browser4.io) and the Browser4 project process, how that information is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the website and related project services operated under the Browser4 name. The Browser4 Extension has its own separate policy.
1. Overview
Browser4 is a browser infrastructure project for the agent era: it provides open-source tooling, browser agents, and automation capabilities that let AI agents browse, automate, extract, and analyze the web. This website is operated by 武汉市翘曲速率信息科技有限公司 (Wuhan Qiaoqu Sulu Information Technology Co., Ltd.), the same team behind platon.ai.
We are committed to transparency about how the website and the project handle information. This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have. It is written to be short and clear; where we say "we" or "us," we mean the operator named above.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy covers:
- The browser4.io website and its subpages;
- Communications you have with us through the contact channels listed on this site;
- The open-source Browser4 project and its command-line tooling as described on this site.
This policy does not cover:
- The Browser4 Extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store, which is governed by its own Browser4 Extension Privacy Policy;
- Third-party websites and services linked from this site, including GitHub, YouTube, Bilibili, WeChat, Weibo, Twitter, npm, and the download servers used for installers. Those services operate under their own privacy policies.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Local preferences
The website stores a small number of preferences in your browser's local storage, such as your chosen theme (light/dark) and language. These preferences are stored on your device only, are never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
3.2 Standard website access data
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically receives standard technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, pages visited, and timestamps. We use this data to keep the site secure, diagnose problems, and understand general traffic patterns. This data is not combined with any identity you might provide and is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
3.3 Communications with us
When you contact us by email or through our public channels, we process the email address you write from, your name if you provide it, and the content of your message so that we can respond to your inquiry.
3.4 Information you choose to provide through interactive features
The website currently does not offer online forms, accounts, or order systems. If we later add features such as demo requests, whitepaper downloads, or contact forms, we will process only the information you choose to submit (for example, your name, email, and company), and we will update this policy before doing so.
4. Cookies and Analytics
The website does not currently set its own cookies and does not run analytics or advertising trackers. Some pages embed content from third-party services (for example, video players from YouTube or Bilibili, or a WeChat QR code image), and some links point to third-party sites. Those third parties may set cookies or process data under their own policies, which we do not control.
5. How We Use Information
We use the information described above only for the following purposes:
- To operate, secure, and improve the website;
- To respond to your inquiries and provide support;
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights;
- To develop and improve the Browser4 project.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use website data to serve advertising.
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not disclose your personal information except:
- To service providers that help us operate the website (for example, hosting and storage), who process data on our behalf and under our instructions;
- With your consent;
- When required by law, regulation, or legal process;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where practicable.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Local preferences remain on your device until you clear your browser's local storage. Website access data is retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes. Communications are retained for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and to comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of information you have provided to us at any time using the contact details below.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process, including the use of encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep our systems and dependencies up to date and to respond promptly to identified risks.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to request a copy of the information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond to privacy inquiries within 30 days.
10. Children's Privacy
The website is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Browser4 Software and the Extension
The Browser4 project is open source and available on GitHub. Software you install from the project runs on your own infrastructure under your control; any cloud-connected features will be described in their own documentation and policy before you use them.
The Browser4 Extension is a separate product with different data practices. If you use the Extension, please read the Browser4 Extension Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice on the website. Continued use of the website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
